Miss Blues'es Child
By Langston Hughes
If the blues would let me,
Lord knows I would smile.
If the blues would let me,
I would smile, smile, smile.
Instead of that I am cryin'---
I must be Miss Blues'es child.
You were my moon up in the sky,
At night time my wishing star.
I love you, oh, I love you so---
But you have gone so far!
Now my days are lonely,
And night-time drives me wild.
In my heart I'm crying,
I'm just Miss Blues'es child!
